• Two Research Assistant positions – TMS-EEG coregistration
Job description The Neurophysiology lab, IRCCS Centro San Giovanni di Dio Fatebenefratelli (Brescia, IT) is seeking a research assistant to work under the supervision of dr Marta Bortoletto. The candidate will contribute to ongoing projects in which TMS-EEG coregistration is employed to investigate cortical connectivity in dementia and psychiatric disorders. He/she will be asked to acquire and process neurophysiological and behavioural data, administer TMS protocols, take part in the preparation of research reports, operational protocols and other materials useful for dissemination and publications. One position is available for 15 months from January 2023 One position is available for 11 months from May 2023.
Key Requirements
• A background in a neuroscience-related field or in psychology or in bioengineering
• Interest in studying cortical networks and their disorders
• Skills for teamwork in a multidisciplinary research group
• Interest in an open science approach and in best practices for reproducible science
• Hands-on experience in acquisition of neuronavigated TMS-EEG coregistration and Knowledge of TMS-evoked potential methodology
• Skills in programming experiments with standard experimental software (e.g. Presentation, E-prime)
• Skills in one programming language (preferably Matlab) and analyses tools (EEGlab, Fieldtrip) is preferred
• Good command of the English language (written and oral)

• Junior reseacher position – TMS-EEG coregistration

The candidate will contribute to ongoing projects in which TMS-EEG coregistration, fMRI and DTI are employed to investigate cortical connectivity in dementia. He/she will be asked to acquire and process neurophysiological and behavioural data, take part in the preparation of research reports, scientific articles, operational protocols and other materials useful for dissemination. The position is available for 4 months from February 2023.

• A background in a neuroscience-related field or in psychology or in bioengineering
• Interest in studying cortical networks and their disorders
• Skills for teamwork in a multidisciplinary research group
• Interest in an open science approach and in best practices for reproducible science
• • Hands-on experience in TMS-EEG coregistration, including data acquisition and data processing
• Proven skills in at least one programming language (preferably Matlab), analyses tools (EEGlab, Fieldtrip), statistical software (e.g. R, SPSS)
• Good command of the English language (written and oral)
• Experience in individualized stimulation through neuronavigation and simulation (e.g. SimNIBS) is preferred

About the employer
The IRCCS San Giovanni di Dio Fatebenefratelli is operating since 120 years and has been appointed and funded as national centre of excellence in research and care by the Italian Ministry of Health since 1996. More than 4500 patients with Alzheimer’s Dementia or associated disorders and about 1700 patients with psychiatric diseases are treated each year. The research division, besides the Cognitive Neuroscience Section, includes the laboratories of Genetics, Neuropsychopharmacology, Neurobiology, Proteomic, Neuroimaging, Ethic and Epidemiology and employs about fifty professional researchers.
The Cognitive Neuroscience Unit is provided with several state-of-the-art devices necessary for the application of brain stimulation techniques (transcranial magnetic stimulation: TMS, rTMS, and transcranial electrical stimulation: tDCS, tACS and tRNS) and for the recording and the analysis of electrophysiological signals (EEG, EMG) as well as neuropsychological testing. The simultaneous co-registration of electroencephalography and TMS application is also available, field where we have been pioneers in the national research.
